Stone Care and Maintenance.
CHIPS:You just need to be careful not to chip the edges by not smashing pots and heavy things on them. (When you have edges like straight edge, or bevel edges, it’s easier to chip your surface, but if you go with a half bull-nose or a rounded edge on top, you are a little less likely to ship your stone that easily). Although having a bevel or straight and bevel edge has it’s advantages when it comes to chips. If you ever do chip the stone, it’s not noticeable like with every other edged (you can feel it but you can’t see it that easily).
STAINS: We always seal the stone after a completed installation, But long period of time spills may stain your granite. Like oils, if you have a bottle of oil standing on your countertop with the oil all over the bottle. and you accidentaly leave it there for a long period of time, the granite will absorb the oil and it will penetrate the stone. You may not be able to see if with darker color selections, but usually the lighter stones show this problem. But don’t worry nothing is unfixable, contact us and we’ll show you how to remove the stain yourself if this ever happens to you.
CRACKS: Once the stone is set, it shouldn’t crack if properly installed (needs to be supported properly). Some stones are more fragile than others, but for the same reason your installer should take extra precaution when installing. Your installer should find out how fragile the material will be when he’s fabricating it (customizing it by cutting it and polishing). That’s where we can really see if the material has any internal cracks, that we werent’ able to view because they are not visible (usually very rare but it has happened). We are dealing with Natural stone and all sorts of things are encountered. You should have cracks in your surfaces only if you agreed that it was in the nature of your stone, and your fabricator and supplier should have pointed this out to you before you made your final decision. We have a 5 year warranty that will warrant any crack that was caused because of a non-proper or non-supported installation, this warranty may be transferable (which means not only you are protected, but the person that buys your home during the coverage period).
